Ashlie Boelkins, AIA, NCARB, is an Associate Professor at the University of Louisiana – Lafayette and founding principal of ARCH&also.  As both an Educator and Practitioner, Ashlie’s work expands the boundaries of architecture and the role of architects while operating at the fringes through multi-scalar projects:  at large, with master planning efforts in underserved communities, and the small, through residential works and collaborative installations.  These installation projects embody her passion towards interdisciplinary intersections between architecture, dance, and performance.

Ashlie is currently the Graduate Coordinator of the UL Lafayette Masters of Architecture Program, Internship Exchange Experience (IEXX), and NCARB Licensing Advisor at the School of Architecture and Design where she teaches the undergraduate senior capstone and graduate studios alongside graduate seminar research-focused coursework. Ashlie strives for alignments between Academia and Practice through her research and service-learning initiatives through the School and advocacy for the Profession with her involvements at the local, regional and national levels.  Ashlie served as the Faculty Advisor to AIAS for 8 years, and currently serves as the UL Lafayette College of the Arts representative on the Graduate Council and active member of the Graduate Student Appeals Committee.

Ashlie was the recipient of the 2018 New Faculty Teaching Award from the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA), the 2019 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Young Architect Award, and 2021 UL Lafayette Outstanding Mentor amongst other honors.  She has held leadership positions with AIA Louisiana, presented and published her work at numerous international and national architectural education and design conferences, and has served as a peer-review critic for the EAAE, ACSA, and invited design critic for studio reviews across the U.S.
