For the past 20 years, the CriticalMASS Graduate Research Symposium has fostered a tradition of discourse and collaboration between schools of Architecture. It has also provided a venue for students to share their work with distinguished critics, including Charles Renfro, Bryan McKay Lyons, and Marlon Blackwell. NO other such forum for cross-institution student interaction and learning exists.

The invitation was extended to the UL Lafayette School of Architecture and Design, SOAD, to select one of their most thought-provoking and thorough thesis projects to be presented at the symposium. Students chosen by their respective faculty will be awarded a Graduate Research Travel Scholarship.

This year, graduate student Shaela Nelson attended the student-led symposium and presented her thesis, "Underneath the White-Washing: An Anti-Racist Perspective of Post-Colonial United States Architecture for a More Inclusive Future."

Congratulations, Shaela, and thank you for representing UL Lafayette in this prestigious venue!
