Designing today’s high-tech automobiles often begins with a decidedly low-tech block of clay.
During the summer, Major General Glenn H. Curtis landed in Cajun Field. During his visit, Army officials were able to review the work being done by the University’s Community Design Workshop (CDW). The CDW was contracted by the Department of Defense to masterplan a number of areas in Louisiana. Directed by Tom Sammons, the CDW is beginning by masterplanning the National Guard base Camp Beauregard, located in Pineville, Louisiana. Students are continuing the work in the fall. Close coordination with the National Guard has provided professional experience for the students while mutually benefitting our state and federal government.
