The Facility Design and Management Studio’s mission is to educate the University community to good interior design principles and to provide design assistance to on-campus units at UL Lafayette. The FDMS allows students to infuse real-life situations into their design projects, such as budgeting and working with vendors, which is an important aspect of the School of Architecture and Design’s mission. Students conduct extensive interviews with their clients to identify how the space can be used most effectively, and field questions about design elements. Recent projects include renovations to the following: the French House for the new offices for Enrollment Services, the Dean of Education's Office Suite and the Lobby of Maxim Doucet Hall, and the Dean of Nursing's Suite and Conference Room in Wharton Hall. Recent proposals include those for adding a coffee shop in the Edith Garland Dupre Library, Rose Garden Dormitories' renovations, and proposals for an Art and Accessories program for the new Hilton Garden Inn on UL Lafayette's Campus.
